StudyAI

Terms of Service

To be completed This page is not final yet. The operator of StudyAI still has to publish: the legal name of the operator, the governing law and competent courts, the registered postal address, and the date this document last changed.

These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of StudyAI. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use StudyAI.

The service

StudyAI is a study tool for university students. You upload your own course material, and StudyAI answers questions about it, writes summaries, and generates quizzes and flashcards, pointing back to the file and page an answer came from.

StudyAI is a study aid. It does not replace your course, your instructor, or professional advice of any kind.

Your account

You need an account to use StudyAI. Use an email address you control, keep your password to yourself, and treat anything done through your account as done by you.

An account is for one person. Do not share it, sell access to it, or run it on behalf of a group.

You must be old enough to enter into a binding agreement where you live. If you are not, use StudyAI only with the consent of a parent or guardian.

Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access to your account.

Your content

You keep every right you already hold in the files you upload. Uploading them transfers no ownership to us.

You give StudyAI the permission it needs to run the service for you: to store your files, extract and chunk their text, create embeddings, and send the relevant excerpts to the AI providers named in the Privacy Policy so that answers, summaries, quizzes and flashcards can be produced for your account.

That permission exists only to operate the service for you, and it ends when you delete the material or your account.

What you may not upload or do

Do not upload material you have no right to upload, including books, exams or course packs you are not permitted to copy, and do not upload other people's personal information.

Do not use StudyAI for anything unlawful, or to store content that is unlawful where you are.

Do not try to get around plan allowances, rate limits, authentication or any other technical restriction, and do not attempt to reach another account's data.

Do not extract content from the service in bulk with automated tools, and do not use its output to build a competing product, dataset or model.

Do not use StudyAI in a way that breaks your institution's academic integrity rules. Following those rules is your responsibility.

AI output

Answers, summaries, quizzes and flashcards are produced by AI models from the material you uploaded. They can be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong.

Citations point at the file and page an answer drew on. Check them before relying on anything for an exam, an assignment, or any decision that matters.

We do not guarantee that any particular answer is correct, and we are not responsible for results that follow from relying on the output.

Plan allowances and fair use

The subscription includes periodic allowances for AI actions and caps on how many courses and documents an account may hold. The figures that apply to you are shown inside the app.

There are also short-window rate limits that stop scripts and runaway loops. They are abuse guards, not a limit on normal studying.

Allowances may be adjusted so the service stays sustainable. A change applies from your next renewal, unless it is needed sooner to keep the service running.

Subscription and payment

StudyAI is sold as a single annual subscription that starts with a free trial. Payment is taken by Stripe, and the subscription renews automatically until you cancel it.

The price, the trial length, how to cancel, and how refunds are handled are set out on the Cancellation & Refund Policy page, which forms part of these terms.

Availability and changes to the service

StudyAI is provided as it is and as available. Features may be added, changed or removed, and background processing of large files can fail or be delayed.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we will say why when we can.

Services we depend on

StudyAI runs on services operated by others: Supabase, Anthropic, an OpenAI-compatible embeddings provider, Inngest and Stripe. An outage or a change at any of them can affect StudyAI, and we are not responsible for those services.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, StudyAI is provided without warranties of any kind, including any warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or fit for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for academic results.

Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under consumer law that cannot be given up by agreement.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using StudyAI at any time, cancel the subscription from the billing portal, and delete your courses and documents. Ask us to delete your account and we will remove it.

If we close an account for a serious breach of these terms, access ends immediately.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the updated version is published on this page and the date at the top changes with it. Continuing to use StudyAI after that means you accept the new version.

Governing law

The governing law and the competent courts for these terms have not been published yet.
